After two LONG years, AgileCrete is coming back this summer in Chania, Crete!! 🎉 🥳 🚀
We, here at the Org Team, hope you and your loved ones are safe and we are looking forward to seeing you again this summer !!
In 2022, AgileCrete is back in its familiar setting, combining special character and an amazing location!
Some locals will claim (and others will contest! ) that Chania is the most beautiful part of Crete. We’d like to leave that up to you to decide for yourselves
Located in the small village of Kolymbari, a sea-side village, there is a conference center that almost goes out of its way to stay just a conference center and keep tourists away (please do not underestimate how hard that is to do on Crete!).
The Orthodox Academy of Crete will allow AgileCrete to transform to a format closer to that of a retreat – like several of the other SoCraTes events – while keeping everything else that made it an event you’ve all enjoyed in the previous years.
Turning to a retreat format has been a long-standing desire for us, as the Org Team, but trying to host a non-profit event, on a tourist destination (Crete) in the midst of the high tourist season, as we have been doing in the past, has proven… unrealistic…
All our participants will have the option to stay on the same venue, where the event will run (in previous years, securing rooms in hotels was a big! problem), allowing for more facetime with each other and a much richer knowledge exchange that we expect will happen.
The venue itself is literally on the other side of the road from a quiet, secluded beach that only some locals use (read: no sunbeds), overlooking the gulf of Kolymbari. You wake up early enough and you can get to see the sun rise from the sea.
It will also be simpler: accommodation will be offered as part of the packages, for those of you that choose to stay on site (there are other options in Kolymbari as well), so there’s less fuss all around about what to book, how to get to the venue (and back) etc.
The packages below are all made available by the OAC themselves. You do not pay us (the Org Team), you pay the venue directly (and we do not take any share of this money). AgileCrete is a not for profit event that is funded by its participants. We all pay (including the Org Team), to cover the venue + catering costs for the event.
The packages below include accommodation, breakfast (and some, optionally, lunch at the venue), with arrival (and check-in at the OAC) on Thursday 9th June and departure (check-out) on Sunday, 12th June. AgileCrete itself runs from the evening of 9 June, until early afternoon 12th June.
1. Conference with accommodation at OAC sharing a double room, without lunch: 195€
2. Conference with accommodation at OAC single room, without lunch: 270€
3. Conference with accommodation at OAC sharing a double room, with lunch: 250€
4. Conference with accommodation at OAC single room, with lunch: 325€
5. Accompanying person, sharing a double room at OAC, without lunch: 135€
6. Accompanying person, sharing a double room at OAC, with lunch: 200€
NOTE: Please note that these are currently approximate prices – there might be a small variation on the final prices due to the current situation. You should not expect any significant price changes.
Finally, the below package is for anyone who chooses to book their own accommodation (does not choose to stay at the OAC) and is payable to the OAC, to cover for venue + catering costs:
7. Conference facilities + coffee breaks (no lunch, no accommodation): 105€
8. Conference facilities + coffee breaks (with lunch, no accommodation): 155€
All it takes to book your place, is to pick one of the packages above and fill in this form! Someone from the Org Team or someone from the venue will then reply to your email to confirm your booking and settle any additional questions regarding the venue, the accommodation, and so on. If you would like some more direct communication, you can also ask us on slack!
Apart from the OAC, Kolympari also offers some 5-star resorts, and some rooms you can find on platforms like AirBnB or Booking.com, etc.
Walking to the OAC from the town of Kolympari is certainly an option, but you’ll want to avoid the 15 min walk on a hot day under the midday sun (we do NOT recommend you try that, especially if you’re not used to hot weather). Temperatures in June are usually not as high as they get in mid-July, or August, but we’d still recommend hiring / sharing a car instead!
